The SPEEK approach relies on a theatre-based toolkit culled from thousands of hours of hands-on experience as a performing artist. I use theatre acting techniques for several reasons: First of all, they WORK! Acting techniques are not only what I know, but what I know are most effective. I have seen the shyest performer bust free of the most crippling limitations through the use of simple acting exercises. Besides, they're fun, and fun makes learning easier!

My approach is creative, intuitive and as varied as the clients I serve. I customize the program to address your very particular needs -- whether I am working with you in a group setting or coaching you in a private session.

The Techniques:

The SPEEK approach is modeled on my own training as an actress, through master teachers at Brown University -- where I received a double major in Theatre and Semiotics -- and in New York City and Los Angeles. My best teachers were those who gave me an array of tools from which to choose and who encouraged my uniqueness.

Like my esteemed teachers, I want to help you uncover and unleash your most vibrant, most authentic voice and self; and, to that end, I will use whatever works, including:

• Theatrical monologues
• Scripts (some you create, some I bring to you)
• Music and sound
• Breath and relaxation work
• Thought and action-provoking conversation
• Creative written exercises.

The Goals:

In the safe and supportive environment of my office, or in the confines of your company's meeting room, I will encourage you to move out of the comfortable limits you have set for yourself, and boldly explore new and exciting levels of vocal, physical and emotional expression. Like the acting training out of which it was born, the SPEEK technique is process work based on self-exploration and self-awareness that, over time, catalyzes change on the deepest levels.

SPEEK clients who are willing to commit to the process, both during and in-between sessions, can expect to develop an enhanced, positive awareness of their communication skills; they will also acquire a personal toolkit of easy-to-use techniques tailored to their needs.
